Snack bags

I've been meaning to make some of these for a long time. A couple of years ago I tried sewing some snack bags with velcro closures, but they were a pain: a pain to sew, a pain to use, a pain to repair as the velcro slowly but surely fell apart. Then, over the summer, I saw this tutorial from Amy of Angry Chicken. Fold-over top! Brilliant!

Geez, you can really see how much I need a new ironing board cover in these photos, eh?

I don't have a serger, so I hemmed the top and bottom edges and pinking-sheared the inside seam allowance. I didn't use pretty fabric (can't spare it! or so I felt as I thumbed through the piles), just some plain leftover stuff from napkins I made ages ago. But they looked too boring, so I did some fabric-paint stamping. Not perfect, but fun!

And now I can stop with the awful plastic baggies for my nuts and raisins. Hooray! I feel so much better.

I love the new masthead! The sandwich bags are perfect - I love the fact that they are plain, almost like the sandwiches are wrapped in beautiful paper.

Thanks, Annette! Blogger was giving me fits with the masthead over the weekend (some sort of technical issue that caused uploads to be blurry/pixelated), but I finally found a workaround. Whew! Glad the plainness of the snack bags strikes your fancy rather than just seeming really boring!
